This website is a key information dissemination tool for Southland businesses to be informed, inspired and kept up to date with sustainable initiatives in Southland.
Vision for Southland Community:
Thriving, healthy communities whose economic cultural and social wellbeing and opportunities are supported by excellent infrastructure, services and amenities within a high quality environment.
Southland’s key regional stakeholders view sustainability as key to the region’s vision and are committed to an integrated approach to support the business community to adopt sustainable practices. As such Invercargill City Council, Gore District Council and Southland District Council have endorsed the strategy “Sustainable Business in Southland: Resources and Opportunities” which drove this website development.
Venture Southland hosts the website, with other stakeholders and users having access to update content. Financial support has been received from the Minister for the Environment’s Sustainable Management Fund, which is administered by the Ministry for the Environment. The content is not necessarily endorsed by these stakeholders.
A number of other stakeholders have also played an active role in this website development, namely the strategy Steering Group and Southland’s Sustainability Liaison Group, which also includes stakeholders such as WasteNet Southland, Te Ao Marama, the Department of Conservation, Southern Institute of Technology, South Coast Environment Centre, Invercargill Environment Centre and Environment Southland.
