Current sustainable practices within the business: We currently have a positive impact on the environment by recycling used oil, scrap steel, wire, plastic and glass.
Why do you want to become more environmentally sustainable? We recognise that our daily activities could potentially have an effect on the environment. We aim to maintain a high level of environmental integrity at all times to avoid or minimise any adverse impacts on our environment.
What opportunities do you see? We aim to improve our environmental performance and save money with the environmental management systems provided by the EnviroSmart® programme.
What areas would you like to improve on first? Waste minimisation. We are working on a waste minimisation, reuse and recycling system based on a monthly skip pick up. We have a target of reducing our waste costs and volume by 25%. To achieve our target we will build a recycling shed outside of the workshop. The shed will have different compartments for different types of recyclable products. It will give us extra space to store recyclable cardboard, florescent tubes and lamps.
