Wentworth Heights is a Bed and Breakfast based in Gore.  They took part in the 'Quick Steps' programme run by Environment, and funded by WasteNet Southland, and subsequently have made the following changes to the way they do business:

• When purchasing, Diane is now very aware of packaging; she avoids non-recyclable or excessive, packaging
   
• Use of the clothes dryer has been significantly reduced - washing is line dried or dried inside when possible
   
• Use of the sink’s waste disposal unit has been reduced by an estimated 90%
   
• All the food scraps are now fed to sheep, which also provides a novel activity for visitors  
  
  Companion planting has been started
  All garden waste is now composted
   
• A Environmental Policy has been developed and is highlighted on the website
   
• Cleaning chemicals have been phased out and cleaning is now done with fibre cloth cleaning systems
   
•  Rubbish has been reduced by around 75-80% through more attention to recycling all materials possible
   
• Robust recycling containers have been set up in the garage, make the system more convenient
