Comfort Inn Tayesta is a Motel in Invercargill that offers 12 quiet, ground-floor units plus 1 x 2-level, double ensuite unit.  They took part in the 'Quick Steps' programme run by Environment Southland, and funded by WasteNet Southland, and subsequently have made the following changes to the way they do business:

• Insulation levels in the office and house have been increased i.e. a plastic groundsheet (moisture barrier) and wool under floor insulation
• Chemical cleaning products have been replaced with micro-fibre cloths
• Micro-fibre cloths are dried each day in the hot water cylinder cupboard
• Recycling has been improved with better signage and facilities provided in rooms
• Rubbish bins are checked to make sure no recycling goes in them
• Double-glazing of windows has been increased
• Washing is line-dried if possible
• Shower flows and the hot water temperature have been checked and confirmed as efficient
• A fuel efficient lawn mower has been purchased and some clippings are used on site
• A vegetable garden is being developed and the fruit trees reinstated
